Toyokawa flourished due to Toyokawa Inari which is one of Japan’s Three Major Inari. It is also said that Toyokawa is the birthplace of inarizushi. Inarizushi has been available here for a long time and is enjoyed by shrine visitors. Shintoyone Dam was completed in 1972. It is a concrete arch dam which generates power. Visitors can enjoy taking a stroll on the dam and taking in the view of Onyu Ravine. Blueberry farming was started in Toyone-mura around 20 years ago. Blueberries are grown focusing on the highbush blueberry variety utilizing the cool climate of the highlands. Blueberry farmers in Toyone-mura open up their fields for blueberry picking every year from around July to mid-August so visitors can enjoy freshly picked blueberries. Mt. Myojin is located on the border of the southwest part of Toei-cho and Shinshiro. It is one of the tallest mountains in Aichi with a height of 1,016m. Myojin is a name given to praise the gods. Visitors can enjoy the popular hiking courses and the amazing view from the observatory at the top of the mountain through the year.
