It takes about 1km from the Cape Irago Lighthouse to the Hiinosekimon Sunrise Stone Gates facing the Pacific Ocean. The beautiful white sand Koijigahama Beach is curved due to the rough waves of the Pacific Ocean. This beach is famous for being the setting of the poem Yashinomi (meaning Coconut) by Toson Shimazaki. This place has been certified as a lover’s paradise along with the Cape Irago Lighthouse, perfect for proposing to your loved one.

Pacific Long Beach

Tall palm trees are lined up along the roadside for a slight American west coast vibe in Japan. There are a lot of cars with out-of-prefecture license plates parked around the beach entrance with young people holding surfboards all over the place. This is one of the most prominent surfing spots in Japan with many events being held here including worldwide surfing events.

Toyokawa Inarizushi

Toyokawa flourished due to Toyokawa Inari which is one of Japan’s Three Major Inari. It is also said that Toyokawa is the birthplace of inarizushi. Inarizushi has been available here for a long time and is enjoyed by shrine visitors. There are currently about 100 places where visitors can enjoy around 300 varieties of great tasting Toyokawa inarizushi.

Sanagawa Riverside

There are many famous places for cherry blossoms in Toyokawa and the Sanagawa Riverside which flows through the center of the city is one of them. Around 800 trees were planted in 1951 in commemoration of river improvement completion displaying pink flowers every year which hang low and come into contact with the river surface. People such as volunteers have been carrying out work on the area in recent years creating a contrast with the yellow colors of nanohana flowers.

Goyuno Matsunamiki Row of Trees

These trees were planted by the magistrate Okubo Nagayasu under order of the Shogunate in 1604 to protect people traveling along the Tokaido Path from the heat of summer and strong winds in winter. There are around 300 large pine trees lined up for 600m from Goyu to Akasaka post towns still intact from the olden days. These popular trees are designated as a national natural monument among the many trees on the Tokaido Path.

Toyohashi Zoo & Botanical Park Nonhoi Park

The zoo features lively animals such as the African open exhibition and the polar bear jumping into the water right in front of your eyes. The botanical garden features the Monet Corner with plants such as water lilies from the Monet Garden in France. In addition, there are attractions such as a natural history museum with a dinosaur fossil exhibit and an amusement park with rides such as a Ferris wheel. This wonderful facility combines 4 different zones.

In addition to enjoying the starlit sky through the 60cm reflective telescope, visitors can enjoy recreations of the different night skies throughout the year in the planetarium. In addition, this facility offers overnight accommodations and BBQ space allowing visitors to enjoy the forests both day and night.
