Tezutsu hanabi hand-held fireworks are said to have originated in Toyohashi and they are one of the traditional cultures which have been passed down generation after generation for 400 years. These rare fireworks are made by men who light them off. Moso bamboo is wrapped with straw rope, gun powder is inserted and the gun powder is ignited. The brave men holding the Moso bamboo dare to light off  these fireworks which shoot sparks 10m up in the air and give off a thundering sound called a hane at the end which shakes your entire body providing a thrilling experience for spectators.
