Under the concepts of transportation in the Edo Period and cultural history of the region, this is a museum that hosts exhibitions under three themes: Tokaido, Futagawa-shuku, and the inn(Honjin). This museum exhibits and explains the origin of Futagawa-shuku and the situation of travel and transportation in modern times in an easy-to-understand fashion. Historic spot maps that explain the insides of the inn and the surrounding area in detail are located inside the museum. Also, the remnants of the Futagawa-shuku, which is next to the museum, are remnants of the Baba family who worked at the inn for approximately 60 years, from Bunka 4 (1807) at the end of the Edo Period. Inside the premises, the storehouse, main building, entrance building, and front gate from the Edo Period still remain. Repairs and restoration construction restored the study that had been destroyed since the Meiji Period, and the most fully equipped state of the inn has been reproduced. Visitors can view the entire inn, such as the room with a raised floor, which was a resting place of feudal lords.
