Komaya, a merchant house, is the remnants of Tamura family that operated a rice dealer and pawnshop at Futagawa-shuku on the old Tokaido highway, and who also worked in inns and for the village, such as by operating a wholesale business and by being the head of the village.

Komaya is a group of buildings that were constructed from the Edo Period to the Taisho Period. It consists of eight buildings, including the main building, detached rooms, and storehouses. The general form of merchants’ houses of the era is well preserved.iv>
