Established in Showa 54 (1979) in a corner of the abundantly green Toyohashi Park (Yoshida Castle Ruins), this museum has collected and displays mainly art and historical, archaeological, and ethnic materials of local connection, and participates in outreach activities such as the hosting of exhibitions and the opening of lectures and courses. Also, the exhibition room on the first floor is widely used in general as a place for displaying published works, such as various types of art exhibitions and group exhibitions.

Beginning/end of the year (December 29 - January 3). While an exhibition is being held, if the museum is open on Monday that is a national holiday, the museum shall be closed on the following day (Tuesday).
